Glenbard Parent Series will present a day with Katie Hurley author of “The Happy Kid Handbook: Joyful Teens in Stressful Times “and “No More Mean Girls: The Secret to Raising Strong, Confident, and Compassionate Girls” on Wednesday, March 13 with three presentations by Katie Hurley.

Joyful Children: Peaceful Families/Early Childhood Event (children 3-10)
9:30am Marquardt District 15 Administration Center, 1860 Glen Ellyn Road, Glendale Heights IL

For this presentation Hurley will address her remarks to parents and caregivers of our youngest children, 3-10 years of age.
Katie Hurley LCSW, is a therapist, speaker, and author of several well regarded books. She maintains a private practice in Los Angeles specializing in anxiety disorders and learning differences and runs a girl empowerment program called, Girls Can.

Raising Joyful Children in Stressful Times

Raising happy, healthy happy kids is an increasingly challenging task for parents today. Acclaimed child and adolescent psychotherapist and parenting expert Katie Hurley, knows the key to raising confident, capable children is nurturing happiness. Here is a back-to-basics guide on practical techniques to foster the well being of both youth and their caregivers. Participants will learn how to tap into children’s individual strengths, personality traits, and interests to increase communication and connection. This presentation will help parents and educators recognize symptoms of stress and anxiety in children, understand their triggers and discover practical coping strategies to target stressors in themselves and others. By exploring the unique needs of each child, we can lower frustration, increase empathy, and guide them to their fullest potential without sacrificing their inner joy.

These events are free and open to the public.  Continuing professional development units are available.

* 11:00am luncheon for PTA and Community leaders. RSVP required for the luncheon only.
