Tina Payne Bryson: VIDEO APPEARANCES & RECORDINGS

International speaker and psychotherapist Tina Payne Bryson PhD will focus on brain informed parenting to develop a student’s “yes brain” for nurturing successful children who thrive. Here are the strategies to strengthen emotional, academic and social skills, helping to move teens from negative emotions like stress and disappointment to positivity and an engaged approach to life.  The program “The Yes Brain: The Success Brain/ How to Raise Resilient, Positive and Successful Students” will be held on 9/25 at 7pm at Glenbard South High School.

When facing challenges, unpleasant tasks, and contentious issues such as homework, screen time, food choices, and bedtime, children often act out or shut down, responding with reactivity instead of receptivity. This is a No Brain response. But our kids can be taught to approach life with openness and curiosity. Parents can foster their children’s ability to say yes to the world and welcome all that life has to offer, even during difficult times. This is what it means to cultivate a Yes Brain, and it leads to the characteristics we want to nurture in them: emotional regulation, resilience, personal insight, and empathy. In this presentation based on her new book (co-authored with Dan Siegel), Dr. Tina Payne Bryson discusses ways to encourage in our kids this positive, engaged approach to life. Using her trademark warmth and humor, she will discuss specific strategies for creating Yes Brain opportunities that allow your kids to thrive—both now and as they grow intoadulthood.

Dr. Tina Payne Bryson is the co-author (with Dan Siegel) of two New York Times bestsellers — THE WHOLE-BRAIN CHILD and NO-DRAMA DISCIPLINE — each of which has been translated into over twenty languages. She is a psychotherapist who keynotes conferences for parents, educators, and clinicians all over the world.
Tina eWhole brain childmphasizes that before she’s a parenting educator, or a researcher, she’s a mom. As I’ve studied attachment and child -rearing theory and the science of how brains work, I’ve been able to apply that knowledge and let it help me parent more the way I want:

lovingly, intentionally, and effectively.”

Tina’s professional life now focuses on taking research and theory from various fields of science, and offering it in a way that’s clear, realistic, humorous, and immediately helpful. As she puts it, “For parents, clinicians, and teachers, learning about how kids’ (and their own) brains work is surprisingly practical, informing how they approach discipline, how they help kids deal with everyday struggles, and ultimately how they connect with the children they care about.”

This program will be repeated at noon 9/26 (at Marquardt).  Bryson will also present “No Drama Discipline/The Whole Brain Child (3-10 years of age) on 9/26 at 9:30am at Marquardt School Distrtict 15 Administration Center.
