All kids want to do well. But adolescence is a complicated and sensitive time and many teens find that their motivation to pursue excellence severely compromised by emotions they may little understand. Jackie Rhew, LCPC, CADC, co-founder of the Center for Emotional Wellness of the Northwest Suburbs will review specific interventions designed to assist children in managing their anxiety, healthy goal setting, and active school engagement. Attendees will learn how to develop parenting strategies to assist young people with healthy coping responses and discover how to engage them in effective communication with language that promotes self-advocacy and independence. Join us and learn the solution-focused strategies to give your child a new opportunity to achieve the success they want and deserve.
Jackie Rhew previously served as assistant director for the School Anxiety/School Refusal Program at Amita Alexian Brothers Behavioral Health Hospital and currently provides training locally and nationally on topics including self-injury and bullying in schools . She is the co-author, with Robin Choquette, of The Successful Parenting Workbook: Create Your Custom Plan for Raising Independent Children into Adulthood.
