Study skills are the skills you need to enable you to study and learn efficiently – they are an important set of transferable life skills. In this important GPS event starting at 7:00pm, Patrick Donohue will define how teens can develop a growth mindset, perseverance, a level of “grit” and gain the skills that will put them on the path to success. We will examine the key areas where parents can improve their students learning effectiveness: Organization, Daily Habits, Vision and Mindset. Here are the strategies to become a supportive coach, and increase your child’s motivation to help them reach their full potential. Patrick Donohue is a former teacher, coach and school administrator and the author of Red Zone Fathering.
The Study Skills program will be offered at 7:00pm in Spanish by Glenbard East Spanish teacher Janet Reece. Circle the calendar now for these solution-minded workshops.
The FAFSA opened on October 1. The deadlines to file vary by university or college. Students and families should be encouraged to investigate the FAFSA deadline for their specfic colleges of interest.
Due to the earlier deadline for filing this year’s FAFSA high school seniors and their parents are encouraged to attend this FAFSA financial aid completion workshop on Oct.17. Participants will receive one-on-one assistance in filing the FAFSA financial aid form online from financial aid specialists from the Illinois Students Assistance Corps. Please bring the following necessary documents: 2015 Federal tax return, 2015 W2 forms, record of untaxed income and investment/asset /business value. Assistance will be available in English and Spanish.
FAFSA assistance will be available from 6:30pm to 8:30pm in the computer lab and the two Study Skills event will begin at 7:00pm at Glenbard North 990 Kuhn Rd in Carol Stream. Students are encouraged to attend.
