Dr. M. Duggan slide presentation to GPS on Sep 11, 2018

College students with autism can face many difficulties in adult life that can be overlooked as they strive for academic success. This presentation shows how educators of young adults and parents alike can best support students with autism in their everyday life, taking into consideration relationships, mental health, and iAutindependent living skills.

Dr. Michael Duggan—Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LCPC) and Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC) is a Professor/Counselor for Students with Disabilities at COD where he has helped establish the Project COACH, a vocational skills training program for students with developmental disabilities, Autismerica, a social/support group for students on the autism spectrum and a chapter of Best Buddies for student to student mentoring. He has also been awarded COD’s Outstanding Divisional Faculty of the Year, Outstanding Academic Advisor of the Year, and Outstanding Club Advisor of the Year.

Dr Duggan’s experience, passion, and wisdom for working with high school students on the Autism spectrum, will be invaluable to educators and parents alike.
