Glenbard athletes and their parents are required to attend the Back to School Athletic night at their school.

Back to School Parent and Athlete Nights have been organized by the Glenbard Assistant Principals for Athletics, D’Wayne Bates Glenbard East, Matt Bowser Glenbard North, Tim Carlson Glenbard South and Joe Kain Glenbard West. The Assistant Principals for Athletes will discuss important policy as part of this mandatory event for student athletes and their parents. In partnership with the Glenbard Parent Series the following speakers are also scheduled to appear:

 

Monday, Aug 13 – Ray McElroy:  A Game Plan for High School Victory

6 p.m. Glenbard North

6 p.m. Glenbard East (speaker presentation at 6:45 p.m.)

Ray McElroy (right), former Chicago Bear and Glenbard parent, has managed to capture the hearts and minds of teens and adults nationwide. His amazing ability to entertain while delivering a challenging address on the discipline and dedication needed to achieve personal and professional goals has changed the lives of thousands. McElroy regularly consults with professional athletes, sports teams, and corporations on how to enhance peak performance and build strong character. Athletes will gain practical suggestions for increasing accountability, commitment, and for properly handling of adversity.

 

Tuesday, August 14 Doug Petit: One Father’s Story

6 p.m. Glenbard South

6:30 p.m. Glenbard West (speaker presentation at 6:45 p.m.)

DougPetitDoug Petit, is a former Glenbard parent, President of Parents and Teens Together and the Co-Chair of the Prevention Leadership Team of the DuPage County Health Dept. Petit will share his family’s tragic story of the loss of his 16 year old son Jonathan, the victim a poorly thought-out choice made regarding alcohol and its impact on so many others. For the past ten years Petit has been speaking to almost 100,000 middle school students, high school students, and parents about the importance of making healthy lifestyle decisions. Doug’s powerful message comes from the heart and the center of his story is that the choices we make are the choices we live by.
