Ben Glenn, the Chalk Guy, is the 2020 Glenbard Live Life Well Week speaker and he joins us to inspire students and their families to approach challenges with a positive attitude and view each struggle as a learning experience. This message details Ben’s personal story of being diagnosed with a learning disability in the 3rd grade. It follows the line of obstacles and triumphs that came after his diagnosis and describes how he learned to overcome those challenges and appreciate himself in the process. Glenn’s remarks are accompanied by his Speedscaping artwork- a fast-paced, large-scale landscape created in front of the audience using chalk and a black 6 x 8 foot canvas.
Glenn’s learning difficulties throughout his formative years proved to be the perfect companion in his career as a performer, creator, and educator. Rather than let it hold him back, he chose to be motivated by his circumstance. He uses it as a tool for writing, speaking, painting and performing his live art presentation.
This free event is open to the public. Students are encouraged to attend. Ben Glenn’s program will begin at 7:00 p.m., immediately after the pre-program Let’s Talk Marijuana.

Let’s Talk Marijuana: The Facts, 6:30-7:00 p.m.

Join us for an important pre-meeting program with Matthew Quinn, LCPC, CADC at 6:30pm Wednesday, Feb 19 at Glenbard North prior to our Live Life Well Week speaker chalk artist Ben Glenn. You may know that alcohol is the most widely used addictive substance in this country. But did you know that marijuana is the most commonly used and abused illicit drug in the U.S.? Marijuana use is particularly high among adolescents and young adults. An underlying reason is that legalization for medical and recreational use in certain states has created greater acceptance of marijuana in our society. As a result, teens’ perceptions of the risks associated with its use have declined steadily. Quinn is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor and Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor in Illinois.
