Have you ever felt ashamed of losing your temper when parenting gets tough? All parents and caregivers hope for calm interactions with their children. But losing it doesn’t equal “bad parenting,” and it’s nothing to be ashamed of. Join us and learn how to embrace a different story – one that not only gives parents a more accurate picture of what’s actually happening but also one which provides a road map for habit change.

Participants will better understand the skill of self-compassion to cope with tough situations. From that place of compassion and forgiveness, parents will feel freer and more empowered to take the next steps toward becoming the kind of loving parent or caregiver that we all strive to be.

Parenthood can be overwhelming, frustrating, and riddled with guilt. It can also be a source of joy, inspiration, and creativity. Balancing rich scientific research with friendly, supportive tips and anecdotes, Yael Schonbrun offers a toolkit to help even the most stressed of working parents grow the good while better managing inevitable challenges. She banishes the idea that the key to ultimate working parenthood is the ability to do it all. Instead, the key is to learn how these roles, together, can help you thrive!

Yael Schonbrun is a clinical psychologist specializing in treating relationships. She is a cohost for the Psychologists Off the Clock podcast, an assistant professor at Brown University, and a parent of three.
